Do we get every photo that you take during the day/session?
You will get every edited image from your event / session. This is not every image that’s taken.
I often take several shots in order to get one or two deliverable images for a pose or setting. It's usual that somebody's blinking or looking away. I’ll select the best and any duplicates will be left to one side.
Your quoted price includes my time and expertise at selecting, processing and editing the images. We’ll discuss the project beforehand and you’ll have an idea of how many images to expect depending on your requirements and time frame.
The reason you don’t get every single image taken is because many are duplicated and due to the time involved to process each one. All images are shot in RAW format and each one is custom processed to bring out the best possible results.
What format are the images in?
The final images I deliver to you will be high resolution JPEG. The most practical and universal format for photos. They’ll be easy to share digitally or print.
All images are shot in RAW. This offers a higher degree of manipulation during processing to help bring out the best from each photo.
You won’t be given the RAW images as they’re not a true representation of the final images, and the processing is a large part of adding my own style to the photos.
Will we get every photo that you take during the day/session?
The latest generation full frame Nikon Mirrorless with 2 memory card slots for extra security in case a card malfunctions.
During key moments at weddings i’ll be carrying 2 cameras so no time is lost if there's any type of technical problem.
I carry a selection of lenses and will pick the most suitable for each situation, whether its group shots, close up details or fast moving action.
In the bag there’ll always be a back up camera just in case, and a selection of specific lenses to meet every need.
Why don't you post more images on Instagram/Facebook?
Various reasons.
I feel many of the photos I take are personal to the people involved, with intimate feelings and emotions that should remain private to them, and they can choose whether or not to share them on social media. There are often particular moments between family members where I feel proud to have captured the emotions and been able to send them to the people involved, but I don't feel it's my place to publish them. Any photos published are always shared with the agreement of the people in them.
All my images are delivered in a professional gallery with options to view and download, and in the case of weddings, the couple always have the choice to make any particular images private to them before sharing them with family and friends.
Another reason is that I love the process of taking photos and processing them personally, and I feel I make every effort to create the best work I possibly can. While social media is an important form of advertising, I don't particularly enjoy spending time posting photos. It's more of a necessity.
Do you shoot in Black and White?
I’ll be shooting in RAW. As it’s digital photography any of the images can be processed as black and white.
Some photos are shown at their best in black and white rather than colour, so at my discretion you’ll receive extra copies of some images.
Please note that this is a process that is individual to all photos rather than a quick click. For this reason you won’t receive black and white copies of every single image - just the ones which merit it. Any additional images can always be supplied if requested.
Do you supply the RAW files?
I don’t provide the RAW files. The processing and adding my 'style' is a large part of the final images that are delivered. But of course if you’d like an image editing in a specific style or retouched in a particular way then please let me know and i’ll be happy to discuss it with you.
What if a child is poorly for a portrait shoot, or it's going to rain for an outdoor shoot?
Please contact me as early as possible to reschedule. Kids do get ill - it happens and unfortunately photoshop doesn’t have a feature to take away that “I feel sick” look on a child’s face. Adults can often put on a brave face and complete the session when not feeling at their best but I wouldn’t expect it of a child.
Fortunately in Spain we’re in a climate where it doesn’t rain too often so bad weather isn’t too much of an issue. I try to be as flexible as possible, particularly in winter, and can always change the day a few days in advance if the forecast doesn’t look good. Or move a shoot from the morning to the afternoon. And if it’s not clear blue sky and we have the odd cloud or moments when it’s overcast then it can actually improve the photos - it’s like having the biggest natural filter possible to remove the problem of harsh shadows on your portrait shoot. A few clouds in the sky can really enhance a final image. If it’s a ski shoot in the French Alps then the weather is crucial, and it’s always a case of keeping an eye on the forecast.
If the weather is ever going to be detrimental to the results of a photoshoot then i’d never expect to carry on regardless.
The Legal Side...
When is payment due?
Wedding reservations and corporate events can be secured with a 30% deposit. The remainder can be paid in advance or on the day. For portrait sessions payment is due at the time of booking.
Payments can be via bank transfer, Revolut, Bizum or cash.
Can we post the images in the internet, Facebook etc?
Yes, please do! And if you tag @tony_wilkinson_photography i’d be very grateful 😁
Who owns the images after the event?
Every photographer owns the photos that are taken by him/her. The print release gives the client(s) permission to use and print the photos for personal use. Obviously every photo supplied to you has full print release.
I will never publish an image for commercial benefit unless previously agreed with you the client. Some images may be used on my own website or promotional material to display examples of my work for other clients.
Cosmetics...
I have a pimple / my baby scratched their face / I have a bruise on my arm… should I reschedule our portrait session?
Minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches on a face can happen. These can easily be taken care of during post processing and editing of the photos so the session will not have to be rescheduled.
However for larger items like black eyes the session should be rescheduled.
Since this may be the first time we shoot please mention visible moles or birthmarks that should be removed, especially on babies and little children where it can be hard to distinguish.
Should I get a haircut or change the style right before a portrait session?
No, it’s probably not a good idea. For men and boys the best time to get a haircut is a week or two before the photo session. Women and girls should not try out a new hairstyle for photos unless they are confident they’ll be happy with the results.
If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to ask!
